Cesare Beccaria was a very important person. He introduced ethical values to criminal law, and his ideas were extremely influential and were spread throughout the world. His principles toward criminal law became the solution to the United States judicial system. Prisons began to enforce the idea that punishment should be effected towards stopping the offender from committing a crime again. Prisons began banning the death penalty or using more humane execution procedures. Also, before Beccaria’s theories were announced, prisons used the death penalty as a common punishment.
