In 1764, with the encouragement of the Verri brothers, Beccaria published a novel called " Dei Delitti e Delle Pene." (essay on crimes and punishments) Beccaria believed that torture should be made equal to the crimes that the criminals have conducted. He was invited to Paris for cases to change the views on the punishment of torture. Before he had gone to Paris, however, we was seen as a " childish imbecile" by the Italian government , and was really the outcast of the entire group. When he was in Paris, the same thing happened so he left to Austria to work "quietly" for the Austrian government. Beccaria believed that people have an equal custom and applied it toward making choices that will help them achieve their own personal enjoyment.
Beccaria failed to match the astronomical level of success he had achieved before in the criminal justice field. Beccaria's flaws was that he was a very quiet and independent person, who really didn't speak what he wanted to, which led him to not being involved in the French and Italian governments and being judged.
